TEATRO AMAZONAS - Fruit of the rubber cycle in the north, the theater was - and still is - the most imposing historical construction in the region. Its eclectic style mixes details of Baroque, Rococo and Art Noveau, while the pink color has adorned its facade since the last renovation, in 1990. On Tuesdays, guided tours of about an hour are free and present in detail the opulent theater interior.
MUNICIPAL MARKET - The right address to buy typical spices and colorful handicrafts from the region. There you can find straw articles, indigenous souvenirs and the popular mulatto creams and soaps (with anti-aging properties) and menthol ointments (the same essence of Vick) - there is even the custom of getting contact from the stools to order more products after. Herbs, teas and spices are endless. In front are the fish stalls in the port of Manaus.
SUNSET AT PONTA NEGRA BEACH - An isolated resort in the center of Manaus, the Ponta Negra neighborhood is the most refined in the capital, with a completely revitalized waterfront avenue that turns into a large boardwalk on weekends. The classic program there is to watch the sun set golden on the Rio Negro - for a privileged view, look for the viewpoint of the boardwalk. Best accompanied by an ice cream cone, with typical flavors from the Amazon such as tucumã.
WATER MEETING - From the plane you can already see the contrast of the encounter between the Negro and Solimões rivers, which form the extensive Amazon River, upon arrival in Manaus. But it is when you take the boat ride to the place that you see the black and brown water flowing side by side like gouache paint without mixing and notice the difference in density, speed and temperature between the two rivers - the water variation is up to 8 degrees.
DESSANA TUKANA INDIGENOUS TRIBE - On the banks of the Rio Negro, in an area accessible only by boat, is the base of the Dessana Tukana indigenous tribe, in the Tupé reserve, which houses about 40 inhabitants of the tribe. They receive tourists on tours from Manaus and present a little of their culture and customs through ceremonies, dances and cuisine (you are invited to taste a mixture of fish, flour and fried ant). In the end, the incentive is to get to know the tribe's handicrafts and mine something - which is a good thing, since they depend a lot on tourism to survive.
SWIMMING WITH PINK-BOTTLES - 180 km from Manaus there is the cutest attraction in the Amazon: the Botos Float, in the Anavilhanas National Park. The concentration of docile pink dolphins that interact with tourists has made the place a success, where you can feed them at eight times throughout the day: at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm.
CACHOEIRAS DE PRESIDENTE FIGUEIREDO - 133 km from Manaus is the paradise of the Amazonian waterfalls, with a supervocation for ecotourism with more than 150 waterfalls, in addition to blue lagoons, caves and caves. The classic route includes the rapids of the Urubuí River, the Iracema Waterfall and the beautiful Fall of the Sanctuary. The attractions also allow the practice of extreme and adventure sports such as rafting, cross buoy, kayak, zip lines, rappel and tree climbing.
THE PARINTINS FOLKLORIC FESTIVAL - It lasts only three days, at the end of June. But throughout the year the city is divided into two colors: red, by the ox Guaranteed; and the blue one, Caprichoso. When the party arrives, rivalry takes over the Bumbódromo, an arena built especially for the event.
